Speed Play
Sprint work on a bike can be somewhat boring. An easy way to change it up is find a local bike trial. For those of you in Denver the Cherry Creek Trail from Cherry Creek Reservoir to Confluence Park is an excellent choice. After spinning your legs up for 5 to 10 minutes start your speed work. For each person you pass do a 1 minute sprint. If you pass a second person during your sprint add another minute. For each person that passes you do a 2 minute sprint. You can vary the difficulty by sprinting different lengths of time base on what type of person you pass (walker, runner, rider, roller blader). This workout is easy to do and breaks up the monotony of riding day after day. This workout should last between an hour and a half and two hours.
