Centennial Cone Park
5/4/10
One word . . . WINDY. The trail is in great shape. We climbed Mayhem Gulch wich was very dry and hard packed. Turning right onto the Travois trail, we had clear sailing to the creek crossing which has a very light flow right now. As we started to climb we did find one more seasonal creek crossing but it was also very small. After climbing to the top of the Travois Trail you will find, for the most part, a moist and tacky trail as you descend to the bridge. The rest of the Travois Trail as well as the Evening Sun Loop are both dry and rideable. The only thing to watch for are some new small boulders that have fallen onto the trail during the spring runoff. As a result of the seasonal trail closure for the elk we returned on the same trail with exception of making a detour onto the Juniper Trail which is also in great shape. I would suggest a different ride on high wind days, but outside of that it was a great day to be on the trails.
