Buffalo Creek

5-2-10

We realized today that we have been spoiled with Buffalo Creek being a little on the damp side making traction better than normal.  Strawberry Jack, Homestead, and Charlies Cutoff are completely dry and starting to get a little a sandy and soft in spots, nothing too bad just normal summer conditions.  The first creek crossing on Sandy Wash has a little ice on either side so be careful not to go in too fast.  The rest of Sandy Wash is in great condition.  The road between Sandy Wash and Gashouse has some wet spots but they are easy to avoid on the wide road.  Gashouse is in great shape, no significant sand after the first 50 meters, which makes for a quick ascent back to Charlies Cutoff.  Due to the weather blowing in we went back down Strawberry Jack so I can't say what conditions you would find on Skipper or Buck Gulch but I would assume it's a safe bet they are in good shape.
