Alderfer/Three Sisters Park

3/14/10

Starting from the East parking lot and heading up the East Evergreen Mountain Trail you will find ice and mud for the first mile.  If you ride early enough the mud does firm up overnight but should be avoided after mid-morning.  Once you get past the first mile and continueing up the Summit Trail you will find packed snow and ice with very little mud.  If you are riding make sure you stay on the narrow packed trail.  Venturing of the trail even slightly and your front tire will dive into soft snow.  The Evergreen Mountain Trail West is still entirely snow packed, a great descent.  The Wild Iris Loop and Bluebird Meadow Trails are mainly clear of snow but would be soft if the sun is out.  As you continue along the Bearberry Trail you will return to mainly snow packed and icey conditions.  Turning south onto the Sisters Trail and then onto the Ponderosa trail you will find mainly dry conditions that make for some nice riding.  The Sisters Trail, east of "the sisters", and the Hidden Fawn Trails are both muddy.  As with all rides this time of year, riding early is your best bet if you want to have a good ride without hours of bike maintance.
