What my clients have to say...

"Todd Finn has been an excellent personal trainer for our family. He is very knowledgeable, biomechanically sound and skilled at motivating performance. He has trained my husband and me for the past 3-4 years. He has worked also with our high school aged athlete increasing her strength, running speed and performance. We believe strongly her lack of sports injuries is directly related to the training she receives from Todd Finn. I have recommended him to other families and young athletes and they have been equally pleased with his results as well.

“I have known Todd for ten years now. I have consistently seen Todd for sport training for six and a half of those years. I originally went to Todd for an injury to my shoulder. Todd fixed my shoulder and then taught me the benefits of what lifting and training can do for you and how it can help you improve and excel at your sport(s).

When I first started with Todd I was 5’6” tall, weighed 200 lbs and couldn’t lift a ten-pound dumbbell off my chest. Since then he has made me bigger, faster and stronger. I dropped almost 50 lbs and then put on about 35 lbs of muscle, thanks to Todd. He has pushed me harder than anyone else and has made me realize you can do stuff you never thought you could.

The biggest things Todd has done for me is he has given me a very good work ethic that will last a lifetime and that you can do anything. The word “can’t” does not exist in Todd’s vocabulary. He has always been very accommodating to make his schedule and his workouts work with mine. This includes working around team lifting and conditioning activities.

I will go to Todd as long as physically possible. It’s something I look forward to. Todd turned me, a fat want-to-be athlete into a college athlete. By going to Todd I gained a great friend, mentor and someone who pushed me to my full potential and beyond. Todd has played a big part in every aspect of my life and will continue to do so.”

“I have been training with Todd for over 10 years. Throughout all of my athletic endeavors prior to that, organized or otherwise, I really had no idea what it really meant to ‘train’. Now, at almost 44, I am unquestionably in the best shape of my life. My conditioning, including strength, power, quickness and endurance has so vastly improved that it is beyond compared to where I started.

I am a skier and a mountain biker. I always wanted to ski and ride hard, but it wasn’t until I started working with Todd that I was actually able to. Particularly when it came to skiing, prior to training with Todd, my aspirations were continually increasing, while the ability of my body to answer was slowly declining. Today I am able to ski world-class terrain with world-class skiers and actually keep up!

Keep in mind that I am an average guy with average athletic ability, but I am able to perform at a much higher level than my natural capabilities would dictate. This is due in no small part to Todd’s hard work and skill. If you are serious about improving your conditioning and athletic ability, Todd is the trainer for you. If not, don’t bother with a trainer at all.”

“Todd has been incredible for me. I started with him my sophomore year at the Mullen High School lacrosse team. I wanted someone to help me with my running and strength. He has made me much faster than I was before and has critiqued my running to a complete different form of running. I have become twice as strong as I was before. He encouraged me and helped me to a point where I actually wanted to work out. Because of him I am able to move to the next level. I am now on my way to play lacrosse in college! Thanks Todd!”

“Thank you for providing your services over the last three years. Working under your cardio and weight program, I have not only lost weight, I have gotten faster.

When we started training in April of 2007 my weight was 230 lbs and my mile pace was 8:30 per mile. At that point my longest run was 10 miles. As of October 2009, my weight was 193 lbs and I ran my quickest 5k averaging 6:20 per mile. This improvement was attributed to the intervals, hill speed work, weight training and the distance training you custom designed for me on a monthly basis. You designed my workouts based on my heart rate, recovery and where I was at personally with my training. Working through injuries, sickness and personal issues, your plan was flexible, detailed for me and you offered the personal touch that kept me motivated and engaged to continue.

Under your plan, we have also had some short term success; placing second in a Duathlon points series in 2007, second in a Mountain Bike Points series in 2009 , completing three marathons and 12 half marathons (over the past three years). This year, I set my PR for the Detroit Marathon, cutting 58 minutes off my old best time. The monthly workout programs you have been designing for me had instant results! The weight came off in about four months and the speed took about six months, but continues to improve! This winter, I will be competing in a Winter Adventure Series which consists of Snowshoe Running, Skate Skiing and Winter Mountain Bike racing. Your plan quickly adapted to my desired races and I am already seeing marked improvements!

Todd, thanks for your help in preparing me both physically and mentally for the rigorous race schedule since 2007. I look forward to training hard under you for many years to come.”

“I injured my right knee on my last run of a great day of skiing in February of 2009. After seeing my orthopedic surgeon and finding out the news of my torn ACL, I sat down with Todd and put together a workout routine suitable for someone with a torn ACL and prepared for surgery at the end of April. Todd emphasized the importance of building strength prior to surgery to expedite the recovery afterwards. His attention to detail to make sure further injury was not sustained was obvious. My training never left me feeling more sore, in fact, in the weeks prior to my surgery, I can honestly say my legs were significantly stronger after tearing my ACL than they were before.

Post-surgery, my goal was to be back on the slopes and back to normal before Christmas. It is now December 1st. Seven months following my surgery, I am stronger than I have ever been before, ready for ski season and better prepared than ever to avoid further injury to my knees. Again, just like my pre-surgery routine, Todd put together a week-by-week plan for my physical therapy/training. Everything I have read will tell you full recovery from ACL surgery takes at least nine months; I would say it shouldn’t take more than seven. I haven’t once felt like I was going to hurt myself going through the training program Todd designed for me. I did my best to adhere to the schedule and it has paid off. I would recommend Todd’s expertise in training to anyone, especially someone with an injury, still looking to train and build strength.”

“When I came to Todd with two herniated discs, C-3 and C-4, I couldn’t lift a 3-pound dumbbell with my right arm. Within six weeks I was pressing 15-pound weights and at the three-month mark, I was completely healed. Todd has been my trainer now for nine years and I have never been injured. He also prepared all of my triathlon training plans and I took second place in my age division in my first triathlon and placed in the top three in subsequent races. He’s brilliant with biomechanics, rehabilitation and results.”
